If you shopped an Ohio dispensary last summer, this month's menu may look a little different.
New rules from Ohio's Division of Cannabis Control took effect in early October. Products that miss the new limits had to be sold by Oct. 4. After that, leftover stock can't be sold. Under the rules, cannabis sold directly to customers generally can't top 90% THC, and packages have new size caps. A few of the adult-use highlights, as reported by WSYX:
- Flower: up to 1 ounce per package
- Vapes: up to three devices or cartridges per package, 2 grams each
- Edibles: 10 mg of THC per serving and 100 mg per package
- Drinks: 10 mg per container, up to 12 containers per package
One Columbus shop owner told the station that gummies once sold in 500 mg bags now top out at 100 mg. Customers who want the same total amount may need to buy several packages, which could cost more. He also said the store had to destroy a handful of products that didn't make the cut.
What it means for travelers: expect smaller packages and lower-dose edibles than Ohio shelves carried before. Start low, go slow, and leave the car parked.
