Up in smoke? More like up on a sign.
More than 50 years after they started joking about cannabis, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are opening their first California dispensary. Cheech & Chong Dispensoria is opening in Forestville, in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley, in partnership with the locally owned In The Tree Apothecary. According to the announcement, the shop at 10655 River Road will carry Northern California cannabis brands, herbal goods and an outdoor garden, with plenty of nods to the duo's history. The brand already has Dispensoria locations in Massachusetts, Maine, Oklahoma and Montana.
"That's progress, man. It took a while, but we made it," Chong said in the release.
The pair will appear at the grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. One catch: to join the meet-and-greet, you need a receipt showing you spent $100 or more at the shop through Oct. 24. The first 250 qualifying guests get a pre-signed poster. Spots are first come, first served, and an RSVP doesn't guarantee one.

What it means for travelers: Forestville is an easy add-on to a Sonoma wine country weekend. Adults 21+ only, and pick a designated driver before the tasting starts.
